Job description
Impact Analyst
Based in Toronto, Canada
Full time position, local contract
Starting date: ASAP 2025
PUR Description
PUR is a global, impact-focused B-Corp specializing in the development of environmental restoration projects, known as ‘nature-based solutions' (NbS). Since 2008, we have been helping the world’s largest organizations meet their ESG targets, reduce their environmental footprint, and regenerate the ecosystems they depend on across complex supply chains. Having developed over 45 projects in more than 30 countries, PUR is recognized as both a pioneer and leader in a sector that is now at the forefront of global efforts to address the ongoing climate and biodiversity crisis.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to fostering and operationalizing insetting strategies—interventions by companies within their own value chains designed to reduce GHG emissions while creating positive impacts for communities, landscapes, and ecosystems. By championing this insetting approach, we aim to create a holistic range of benefits that extend beyond ecological restoration, encompassing social and economic dimensions through enhanced agricultural yields and resilience to climate change-induced stresses, among others.
One of the distinctive features of our work is our ability to tailor projects to the specific needs of different regions and communities. By recognizing the unique characteristics of each ecosystem and the cultural context of the communities involved, we ensure our initiatives are contextually relevant and have a meaningful and sustainable impact. All our projects are developed in close collaboration with local actors, including cooperatives, NGOs, governments, and corporations.Today, we employ 200 staff across 16 countries with key offices in Paris (HQ) and Toronto.
Industry
PUR operates within the dynamic and rapidly evolving sector of environmental consultancy services and nature-based solutions markets. These markets are closely linked with the voluntary carbon markets (VCM) when NbS projects produce carbon credits that can be traded on the VCM. The NbS market has recently gained traction as society recognizes the invaluable services provided by nature and the need to preserve, restore, and harness these services to mitigate and adapt to environmental challenges. To be considered a nature-based solution, projects must effectively address real societal challenges and offer strong environmental, economic, and social benefits for local communities.
Market KPIs:
If combined with deep decarbonization efforts, NbS projects could provide up to 30% of the mitigation needed to limit global warming to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels by 2030 (World Economic Forum, 2023).
5,307 companies have set science-based targets—a 4.2x increase since 2022—and are a significant driver of demand within the NbS and VCM markets (SBTi, 2024).
To meet their SBTi targets and mitigate their climate-risk exposure, organizations around the world will need to invest in the type of projects PUR develops. Today, very few market players have a proven track record in NbS project implementation, and PUR is therefore well-positioned to benefit from the market’s expansion.
About the Role
PUR is seeking an Impact Analyst with the ability to digest, manage, and translate complex topics in the areas of nature-based solutions, soil carbon, agriculture, technology, impact accounting and reporting frameworks.
As a key member of the Technical team, you will report to the Technical Coordinator in Toronto. You will collaborate with the global commercial, operations, and specialist teams to support the evaluation of new concepts, technical partnership opportunities, and practices for their relevance to PUR’s product portfolio (research topics such as agronomy, soil, carbon, nature, livelihoods and water in line with dynamic international frameworks, certifications, and evolving science).
Your key focus within the teams will be:
Global Operations & Project Managers: responsible for the origination, development, and long-term management of projects. The Impact Analyst supports the roll out of new technical offers (with a focus on regenerative agriculture), receives operational feedback for improvements of our offer, and acts as a conduit to the Product Development Manager and the Regenerative Agriculture Lead on these topics.
Technical Specialist Teams: responsible for the technical design and implementation of PUR’s projects. The Impact Analyst supports and even leads specific research and development work for PUR’s technical agroforestry and regenerative agriculture products primarily, and related to the design, implementation, MRV, and closure of those projects.
Commercial Team: responsible for business development and client account management. The Impact Analyst provides updates on product development to the team, participates in workshops to provide a technical perspective to strategic discussions, and engages the commercial team for feedback on the regenerative agriculture strategy.

Support the Operations teams, primarily regenerative agriculture, from a technical perspective, in the review of project methodology design and client deliverables.
Perform research and development support for topics such as Farm Economics, Soil Carbon MRV methodologies and tools, emissions reductions calculations, and certification pathway efficiencies.
Support the Impact Team in the execution of carbon, nature, and livelihoods analyses protocols, directly engaging with the operations team as required.
Technical Tools and Resources:
Identify gaps in team resources and tools; and collaborate with experts and global teams to design solutions and their implementation roadmaps.
With the Quantitative Analyst, you support the development of Impact modelling tools and accompanying guidance for the PUR team on livelihoods economics topics.
Conduct gap and quality analyses of technical service partners and their methodologies, particularly in the Regenerative Agriculture space, that can address business and technical gaps and inefficiencies.
Support the development of transversal tools and resources for use by global teams in the execution of their daily workflow, as needed.
Foster a collaborative environment resulting in the successful implementation of transversally applicable tools and products, particularly for agroforestry and regenerative agriculture.
Technical Research and Evaluation:
Conduct literature reviews and market research on proposed new concepts to assess relevance for PUR. This includes research on key performance indicators, potential technical partnerships and collaborations, and new methodologies and technologies.
Stay up to date with new market trends in both agriculture and nature-based solutions, MRV solutions particularly in regenerative agriculture, and new approaches to regenerative agriculture. Communicate major updates with relevant internal teams.
Support the global team of experts to publish key technical notes and translate complex scientific and technical material into digestible and market ready material for external and internal communication, with a key focus on supporting technical insights for soil carbon and reductions emissions pathways.
Provide feedback to operational and central teams on process evolutions; ensure global product vision is considered and aligned.
