PUR Description

PUR sits at the intersection of business and environmental impact. We partner with global companies to implement nature-based solutions (NBS) that deliver robust, science-based, and data-backed impacts worldwide. Operating at a crucial moment for our planet and economy, PUR’s mission is to enable businesses to meet their climate and sustainability objectives through high-quality supply chain solutions and carbon market projects, while driving tangible social and environmental benefits.

The business is a global market leader in agroforestry with a footprint in over 20 countries and serves leading global brands. After a period of transformation, the business is now embarking on the next phase of growth.

About the role

The Global Origination Lead is responsible for structuring, prioritizing and converting PUR’s global pipeline of nature-based solutions opportunities into scalable, high-quality and investable projects.

Working with Regional Directors, Country Managers, Commercial, Technical and Operations teams, the role ensures that opportunities are consistently assessed, technically robust, financially viable, operationally realistic and aligned with client and investor expectations.

The role owns the global origination discipline, including pipeline governance, stage-gate quality, investment-readiness standards, portfolio prioritization and cross-functional alignment from opportunity sourcing to project launch.

The Global Origination Lead also contributes to business growth by supporting strategic client opportunities, helping expand existing accounts and identifying new opportunities in priority sectors, geographies and supply chains in close coordination with Commercial.

Your responsibilities will be, but not limited to:

Global Pipeline Qualification & Prioritization

  • Own the qualification, prioritization and advancement of PUR’s global origination pipeline, working from opportunities sourced by regional, country and commercial teams.

  • Assess opportunities based on impact potential, feasibility, scalability, strategic relevance, risk profile, client demand, cost competitiveness and investment readiness.

  • Maintain a clear view of global pipeline health, bottlenecks, conversion risks and resource needs.

  • Track and manage costs across origination workstreams, ensuring accurate visibility into cost drivers and origination efficiency over time.

  • Support global portfolio prioritization and resource allocation decisions across regions and project types.

Project Structuring & Development

  • Lead or support the design of robust, scalable NbS project concepts across agroforestry, restoration and other relevant models.

  • Ensure early alignment between technical standards, operational feasibility, financial viability, legal/compliance constraints and client/investor expectations.

  • Define key project parameters including scope, implementation model, investment case, timeline, risks, assumptions, dependencies and governance needs.

  • Ensure project concepts are coherent, fundable and ready to transition into commercialization before contracting and implementation.

    .

Opportunity Conversion & Business Growth

  • Drive the conversion of qualified opportunities into contracted projects in partnership with Commercial and regional leadership.

  • Support proposal development, client positioning, project narratives, financial assumptions and risk framing.

  • Ensure alignment between client expectations and delivery realities before opportunities are committed.

  • Support and, where relevant, lead strategic origination in coordination with Commercial.

  • Contribute to expansion of existing client accounts and development of new opportunities within priority sectors, geographies and supply chains through origination.

Origination Governance & Standards

  • Own and continuously improve PUR’s global origination process, stage-gate requirements and decision-making standards.

  • Prepare and coordinate decision materials for internal governance bodies, including investment or project approval committees.

  • Ensure opportunities meet required standards of documentation, traceability, financial rigor, risk assessment and cross-functional validation.

  • Create consistency across regions while allowing sufficient flexibility for local market and project realities.

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Act as the key bridge between sourcing, commercial development, technical design and operational execution.

  • Coordinate with Regional Directors, Country Managers, Commercial, Technical, Finance, Legal and Operations teams to advance opportunities efficiently.

  • Ensure early visibility on delivery constraints, implementation readiness, carbon or certification feasibility, legal requirements, risk exposure and resourcing needs.

  • Facilitate clear handover from origination to implementation once opportunities are approved and contracted.

Market Intelligence & Strategic Input

  • Identify priority geographies, sectors and project models where PUR should focus origination effort.

  • Represent PUR, where needed, within relevant NbS, sustainability, carbon and corporate insetting ecosystems.

  • Translate lessons from regional origination into global recommendations for growth, risk management and portfolio strategy.

Job requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong experience in project origination, business development, investment structuring, strategy or project development, preferably in nature-based solutions, carbon, sustainability, agriculture, forestry or impact investment.

  • Demonstrated ability to translate early-stage opportunities into structured, financeable and implementable projects.

  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align commercial, technical, operational, finance and legal perspectives.

  • Excellent analytical skills, including ability to assess risk, feasibility, scalability, financial viability and strategic fit.

  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capabilities, with credibility in senior internal and external discussions.

  • Ability to work globally across regions, cultures and functions, balancing standardization with local realities.

  • Clear, structured communication style with strong written decision materials and executive-level synthesis.

Success Measures

  • Quality, maturity and conversion rate of the global origination pipeline.

  • Pipeline cost competitiveness.

  • Timely progression of opportunities through stage-gate governance.

  • Improved alignment between client expectations, financial assumptions and implementation realities.

  • Reduced late-stage project redesign, delivery risk or misalignment after contracting.

  • Clear prioritization of high-potential opportunities across regions and sectors.

  • Strong feedback from Regional, Commercial, Technical and Operations teams on coordination and decision quality.
